Welcome to Florence and the Central Oregon Coast.
Florence is located on the Central Oregon Coast amid towering trees, huge sand dunes and wild rhododendrons. The climate is moderate with average temperatures of forty three degrees in January and sixty one degrees in July. Average rainfall is 73.74 inches.
The Siuslaw River and estuary runs along the Old Town and Historic Bayfront with its own special ambiance.
Florence is a small town with about half of its 8000 residents retired, yet it boasts a new Hospital, Fire Station, Justice Center, High School, Community Events Center and Community College.
Florence hosts the second oldest floral festival in Oregon, "Rhododendron Days", thus Florence’s name " The City of Rhododendrons". This three day event in May attracts thousands of people to the Pageant which culminates with a Grand Floral Parade down Highway 101 and through Old Town.
Many lakes and streams in the area along with the annual salmon run in the Siuslaw River offer excellent fishing. The rivers estuary is a popular spot for clamming and crabbing. There are also two challenging 18 hole golf courses.
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area which encompasses 14,300 acres is located just across the Siuslaw River offering sand dune buggy riding, camping and hiking.
Florence has major department stores, supermarkets, doctors, dentists, restaurants and specialty shops.
Oregon’s second largest city, Eugene is only 60 miles away with its major airport and Interstate 5 Highway.
